What is your goal?

If losing weight is your ultimate goal, then put down the weights, get off the cardio machine, and reconsider your gym membership. Substantial evidence from a variety of sources shows how exercise has minimal impact on weight lost. Exercise accounts only for about 10-20% of total calories burned in a day. In order to lose weight, you have to create a caloric deficit. A deficit is created when the amount of calories we put into our bodies is below the required amount to sustain our everyday bodily functions. This deficit is difficult to accomplish through exercise alone. Thus, if your overall goal is to lose weight, a greater focus should be placed on the quantity and quality of food you put into your system rather than the hours you put into the gym.
